72. Double power / minimal weight gain.
The original 2.5 RS has about 160hp more or less. Thats good and fun for a naturally aspirated engine. However, to be competitive we needed some real power. Upgrading to an STi turbo power plant should give us about 295hp. (A dyno run will give us the exact numbers.)
With our original engine, our racecar with both drivers and full fuel weighed in at 3,012lbs. With the new engine and transmission we hope to come in around 3,200lbs. This will give us almost double the power with only 200lbs weight gain. Definately a good trade off.
The donor engine was a mess. Mike Bauer at Affordable Subaru in Phoenix worked his magic and built a great motor.
